Why bookmarks fail, and what a cookbook gets right

The internet is the world's largest recipe box, and your browser is the worst possible place to keep it. Here's the thinking behind Linkplate.

Every cook we talked to in Cumming had the same shelf of failures: screenshots with no source, bookmarks spread across three browsers, a notes app full of half-copied ingredient lists, and one carefully printed recipe card from 2019 that still gets pulled out every Thanksgiving.

The problem isn't discipline. It's that saving a recipe takes more steps than cooking it. So the good ones get lost. A cookbook flips the math — one place, one format, and everything you've ever liked is findable in seconds.

That's the standard we hold Linkplate to: if it takes longer to save a recipe than to read it, we've failed.
